Presidential Election Woes
I don't know about you, but I am still having a hard time deciding who'll get my vote on Election Day this week. It may sound ignorant of me to admit that I just don't know enough about either candidate to make a sound decision; YET! And we're less than 24 hours away from Election Day.
As a a working mom of one (laid off from my day job just last week), a wife to a guy who commutes by train to the city, a mommy and me exercise class instructor, and homeowner I just don't have much time left in the day to listen to the news and research each candidate for hours on end. Trust me, I know the importance of understanding the issues and voting.
So in being on the fence still with not much time to read up on each candidate and the VP candidates, where do I turn? The Internet of course. I thought in case anyone else was in my boat or wanted some last minute solidification for their already made up mind I'd share some sources of info for comparing the candidates and their plans for addressing key issues.
- A side-by-side comparison of tax plans
- A really simple, easy to understand comparison from CNNMoney.com
- The candidates take on Social Security
- A treehugger's look at how the candidates would deal with renewable energy
Okay, so none of this last minute research is enough to really say I'm 100% for x or y candidate. How do you really put that much faith or trust in a politician? It's just not easy when you're thinking of your taxes, doing what's best for you and your family and how politicians have let us down in the past. It all boils down to personal beliefs, who's approach to key issues hits home most.
Final note...One gripe. I'm pretty sick of the daily mail I'm getting from each candidate; a total waste of paper in my opinion. Do they really think that jumbo postcard is going to change my mind (or make up my mind)? Come on! Isn't one of the issues at hand the environment? How about finding a more resourceful, less wasteful way of getting your message out there. And well, after tomorrow, we'll have less political junk mail. But what about next time? Are the candidates going to continue wasting paper each time an election rolls around?
